    • Armand Durand The Presentation in the Temple With the Angel Rembrandt Etching Framed Art Harmenszoon van Rijn
      Aug. 27, 2023

Armand Durand The Presentation in the Temple With the Angel Rembrandt Etching Framed Art Harmenszoon van Rijn

      Est: -

Item Description "The Presentation in the Temple With the Angel” is a masterful etching by Rembrandt in the 1600s. In the 1800s Armand Durand painstakingly recreated much of Rembrandt's original etchings. This exquisite piece is a hand-pulled etching, produced from the authentic and original copper Armand Durand plates under the careful watch of Art World Industries, Inc. The paper bears an embossed stamp and comes with COA. Durand's life was steeped in admiration for the Old Masters' engravings of the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries. He saw the fading quality of these masterpieces over time and devoted his career to preserving their original quality for future generations. His work, recognized and celebrated by early 19th and 20th-century etching experts, notably caught the attention of George Duplessis, who featured Durand's masterful pieces in important historical books belonging to the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris. The piece also carries an embossed blind stamp of Armand Durand, a mark of authenticity. Following Durand's death in 1905, his original copper plates were obtained by the esteemed French book publishers, DOMINIQUE VINCENT et Cie, who occasionally sold them to private parties interested in this unique creation. After over a century, Durand's dedication to quality and beauty is still reverberating throughout the art world. His recreation of Rembrandt's etchings, such as "The Presentation in the Temple With the Angel," is not just a work of art, but a preservation of history and a testament to the enduring influence of the Old Masters. This exquisite piece is a hand-pulled etching, produced from the authentic and original copper Armand Durand plates under the careful watch of Art World Industries, Inc. Armand Durand, born in Paris in 1831, was a master engraver who dedicated his life to preserving the original quality of the 15th, 16th, and 17th-century Old Masters' engravings. His work, appreciated and acknowledged by experts and conservators of the 19th and 20th centuries, has been featured in the prominent Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris and in George Duplessis' acclaimed work, "Histoire de la Gravure" - an historic study of European engravings so valuable that it is kept under lock and key at major libraries. Durand's work was so revered that, following his death in 1905, his original copper plates were acquired by the esteemed French book publishers, Dominique Vincent et Cie.
