Baltimore: Ferrai & Dupin, [1798?] 11 1/4 x 8 1/2 inches; 285 x 215mm; lightly & attractively toned. Trimmed within plate mark - image, text & borders intact. On woven paper. Matted - corner hinged. Dedicated to Commodore John Barry. The head of Washington was based on Gilbert Stuart's "Anthenaeum" likeness life time image of Washington. Baker 228; Stauffer 1024ii; see Wick 61 for David Edwin's slightly earlier engraving of this pose and setting.

      Dupin (Charles). Developpements de geometrie, avec des applications a la stabilite des vaisseaux... , Theorie, Paris, 1813, eleven folding eng. plts. at rear, some errata corrected in an old hand, spotting and some soiling throughout, author's presentation inscription to half-title, 'Offered to the Dr. Olynthus Gregory [1774-1841, English mathematician] from the Author, Ch. Dupin', cancelled library stamp to front endpaper, old lib. buckram, rubbed, spine faded and frayed along upper joint, 4to. The part containing the applications was not issued until 1822, when it appeared as a separate work. (1)
