      Henry Treffry Dunn (1838-1899) Pre-Raphalite Brotherhood, coloured chalks, portrait of two girls dated 1874 marked 'JCS' and ' LG ', signed lower right, 29 1/2" x 21 3/4" (75 x 55.3cm). In the slip of an oak frame. Footnote: Whilst we are unsure who the sitter ' LG' is there is a strong possibility that ' JCS ' is a sister of the renowned 2nd Generation Pre- Raphalite Artist and former sitter Marie Stillman nee Spartali (1844-1927 Greek/ Italian ) Research shows that this picture was painted at 16 Cheyne Walk , Chelsea, London. Henry Treffery Dunn was Dante Gabriel Rossetti 's (1828-1882) studio assistant, noted artist and author of such books like ' Recollections of Dante Gabriel Rossetti and his circle ( Cheyne walk life )

      Henry Treffry Dunn (British, 1838-1897) "Portrait of the Lady of Shalott" c. 1864, unsigned, watercolor on card, framed, Sight 10 by 7 in., (not examined out of frame). As can be seen through the bold similarity in style, Dunn was an art assistant to Dante Gabriel Rossetti, who once told him, "You are the best of fellows and my guardian angel". When the Uffizi asked Rossetti's brother to provide a portrait of Dante, he sent one painted by Dunn.

      Sibylla Palmifera signed with monogram 'DGR' (lower right) pastel, on two joined sheets 37 1/4 x 29 3/4 in. (94.6 x 74.3 cm.) on the original backboard were two labels that have been preserved, one that of Rossetti's frame-makers, Foord and Dickinson, the other inscribed 'Mrs Valpy £200'
