    Gold, Platinum, Kunzite, Diamond and Yellow Beryl Necklace, by Mary Kruming Douglas Composed of textured gold ribbons spaced by 11 emerald-cut kunzites approximately 204.50 cts., wrapped in platinum ribbons of 176 round diamonds approximately 10.85 cts., tipped by polished gold feet, spaced by swags of round yellow beryls, approximately 137 dwts. Inner circle 15 3/4 inches. A child of the Asheville, North Carolina region, Ms. Kruming Douglas formed a creative career spanning from modeling at Bergdorf Goodman's to fashion editing at Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Ms. Kruming Douglas found her passion in designing custom jewelry at Tiffany's, Black, Starr & Gorham and Bulgari in the 1950s and 60s. Her jewelry is characterized by her unique use of yellow gold and colorful stones and is exemplified in custom design, prefering to visit clients in their homes before starting any project. She claimed design "is an expression of individuality and a highly personal form of art."
