    WILLIAM SIDNEY MOUNT Portrait of a Young Woman (Miriam Doughty Underhill). Oil on canvas, circa 1838. 304x255 mm; 11 7/8x10 inches. Provenance: Private collection, Massachusetts. The sitter is believed to be Miriam Doughty Underhill (1820-1868), of whom a larger oil on canvas portrait by Mount (1807-1868) is in the collection of the Long Island Museum, Stony Brook (Mount was a lifelong resident of Setauket, New York and the adjacent village of Stony Brook). Miriam Doughty Underhill, born in Oyster Bay, was the daughter of Benjamin Townshend Underhill and Eliza Weeks. According to Mount's diary entries published in Alfred Frankenstein's 1975 monograph, William Sidney Mount, Miriam Doughty Weeks, the sitter's maternal grandmother and namesake, sat for Mount for five portraits that were ordered for each of her children in 1842.

AUGUSTUS KEPPEL' published by William Doughty (1757-1781/2) after Sir Joshua Reynolds R.A. mezzotint on laid paper, one soft crease to the image, pale spotting, published by the artist, London, 1779. 450 x 330mm.; together with three further mezzotint portraits of Augustus Keppel by or after Sir Joshua Reynolds, J. Jehner and others, various conditions -4 Augustus Keppel (1725-1786) was a British Royal Navy officer from a leading Whig aristocratic family. He was a descendant of the 1st Duke of Richmond (an illegitimate son of King Charles II). He saw action in North America during the Seven Years' War (1756-1763) against France, Austria and Russia and was First Lord of the Admiralty during the War of American Independence from 1775-1783. Latterly he was MP for Chichester from 1755 to 1761, then for Windsor from 1761 to 1780 and finally for Surrey from 1780 to 1782.
