    Henri Doucet (1883 Pleumartin/Vienne - 1915 Hooge/Flandern). Chemin aux arbres. Um 1905 Oil on canvas . Signed lower right.65 x 81 cm (25,5 x 31,8 in). [NB]. Provenienz: Galerie Vildrac, Paris (with the label on the stretcher).Private collection North Germany. Henri Doucet kommt 1900 nach Paris und erregt dort die Aufmerksamkeit des Malers Jean-León Gerôme. Nach einem Studium an der École des Beaux-Arts führen ihn Reisen nach Südfrankreich und Italien, wo hauptsächlich Landschaftsgemälde entstehen. Ab 1908 stellt er im Salon d'Automne und im Salon des Indépendants aus, 1911 auch bei der Berliner Sezession. Im vorliegenden Gemälde, das die satte Herbstfärbung der Landschaft einfängt, wird der stilistische Einfluss seines Vorbildes Cézanne in Verbindung mit Doucets ganz eigenem Sinn für Perspektive und raffinierte Farbgebung sichtbar. Sein früher Tod 1915 an der Front in Flandern setzt der vielversprechenden künstlerischen Entwicklung des Malers ein jähes Ende.In good condition, colours still fresh. The margins partially with minor traces of rubbing, upper right corner with tiny colour loss. Isolated barely noticeable craquelé.
