      Etching on wove paper Germany, 1966 Roland Dörfler (1926-2012) – German painter and graphic artist Signed, dated, numbered and titled in pencil (numbering in the images deviates from the real numbering of the lot) Ketterer edition directory 50 From an edition of 100 prints Plate dimensions: 57.4 x 47.5 cm Published by Galerie Wolfgang Ketterer, Munich Condition: The sheet is heavily creased and dusty on the reverse. The plate mark measures 57.4 x 47.5 cm and the dimensions of the sheet are 73.3 x 52.4 cm. Roland Dörfler (1926-2012) Roland Dörfler studied drawing and painting at the academies of Nürnberg and Stuttgart. He was a student of Fritz Giebel and visiting student of Willi Baumeister. During the First World War he had to serve in the West and became a prisoner of war to the French. He later lectured at the Academy of Stuttgart and the art academy of Braunschweig. In 1961, he was amongst the co-founders of the ‘Neue Württembergische Gruppe’. The artist understood the nude figures, which he created since the 50s as an expression of his own emotions. In the late 60s and 70s he developed more constructive shapes and nonfigurative images. His ambitions in his printed work were more objective and narrative.
