Pauline Dohn received her art training in Chicago art schools, in Philadelphia with Thomas Eakins, and in Paris at the Academie Julian with Boulanger. She exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1888. Additional features were human-interest stories geared specifically toward women, as well as a section featuring female artists. Proceeds from the sale of the paper were designated for charity, such as the Maternity Hospital mentioned in this poster.
