            Truong Dinh Hao, born in Hanoi 1937 . He graduated from the Hanoi School of Fine Arts in the 1960’s. This talented artist has been celebrated for his unique child-like gouaches of buffaloes, rendered with bold strokes and vibrant colours on textured paper . He is also known for his paintings of folkloric scenes, many with striking colours. He didn’t start painting again until 1982 when he had the time to do so, and didn’t start selling his work until 1986. Since then, he has been exhibiting in Hanoi and Saigon and had his works on permanent display at the National Fine Arts Museum. He spent part of 1997 exhibiting his work in France and completed successful show in Singapore .

            Truong Din Hao was born in Hanoi in 1937 and currently lives and works in the province of Ha Bac in the northern part of Vietnam. A native of Hanoi, he graduated from the Hanoi School of Fine Arts in the 1960’s. This talented artist has been celebrated for his unique child-like gouaches of buffaloes, rendered with bold strokes and vibrant colours on textured paper. He is also known for his paintings of folkloric scenes, many with striking colours. He didn’t start painting again until 1982 when he had the time to do so, and didn’t start selling his work until 1986.             TRUONG DINH HAO, Vietnamese b.1937- Four abstract figures; gouache on newspaper, signed and dated '94, 58x84cm (unframed) This lot is unframed. Strips of tape have been stuck along the edges of the paper at the reverse, which are now peeling off. There is significant creasing and tearing to the paper, particularly along the top edge, where there are large tears in the paper (see photographs). There is a vertical crease running down the centre of the piece, likely from being folded, which has also led to some paint loss. In many places the creases have led to paint loss, particularly towards the top left corner of the paper. There appear to be white spots perhaps caused by damp or mould across the paper. Overall the work is in poor condition.

Il peint surtout à la gouache sur papier journal ou papier de riz, en général des grands formats. Si ses formes sont stylisées, ses figures presque naïves, ses sujets sont percutants. Peintre réactionnaire, affiche sa qualité de « peintre engagé».
