    JILL DENNIS B. 1957 CRONODY Oil on canvas, 60½" x 71" (154 x 180), signed & dated verso. Jill Dennis has lived in Cork for many years and now teaches in the Crawford Gallery of Art and Design. She has exhibited extensively and held several highly acclaimed exhibitions at the Taylor Galleries, Dublin. Painting both in the studio and 'en plein air', her work is characterised by her use of expressive brush strokes and rich colours, so evident in this work. Cronody is situated just west of Cork City.

    Jill Dennis b.1957 LONE SHEEP Oil on canvas, 58 1/4" x 48" (148 x 122cm), signed, inscribed and dated 1992 verso. Provenance: West Cork Arts Centre, 30th April - May 1993, where acquired by the present owner. Jill Dennis was born in North Cheshire, England. She attended Goldsmiths College and completed her M.A in painting at The Royal Academy Schools. She now lives in Cork and teaches at the Crawford College of Art and Design. She has exhibited extensively throughout Europe and is represented in Ireland by Taylor Galleries, Dublin.

    Jill Dennis (b.1957) BALLINCOLLIG, CORK, MAY 1988 watercolour signed, titled and dated lower right; with artist's name and title on reverse 69 by 100cm., 27 by 39.5in. Provenance: Taylor Galleries, Dublin Exhibited: 'Jill Dennis', Taylor Galleries, Dublin, June 1988 Aidan Dunne for the Sunday Tribune described the artist as a, "...fluent, adventurous painter... [whose] strong incisively made drawings hint at a world of darker tones and duller colours than the Mediterranean brightness seen elsewhere...". Although originally from the North of England, Dennis' love for Ireland, and Cork in particular, is "enthusiastically described by a painter sure of her abilities." (12 June, 1988)
