The bust portrait of Fitz James shows him in his younger years. He looks at the viewer with his head slightly raised. He wears a whisker, his main hair is already thinning, but his features are still youthful. Edward Duke of Fitzjames was great-grandson of the Duke of Berwick and illegitimate son of James II, King of England. His mother was Anna Churchill, who gave birth to her son Edward at Versailles in 1776. A royalist, Edward emigrated from France in 1789 and only returned after the Restoration and was admitted to the civil service. He died in 1838. The bust portrait of Fitz James shows him in his younger years. He looks at the viewer with his head slightly raised. He wears a whisker, his main hair is already thinning, but his features are still youthful. Edward Duke of Fitzjames was great-grandson of the Duke of Berwick and illegitimate son of James II, King of England. His mother was Anna Churchill, who gave birth to her son Edward at Versailles in 1776. A royalist, Edward emigrated from France in 1789 and only returned after the Restoration and was admitted to the civil service. He died in 1838.
