(2)This pair of portraits show the widowed Françoise-Jacqueline Peeters D'Aertselaer (1751-1805), Madame Guyot, and her eight children. In the first painting with Madame Guyot are her son François-Louis Guyot, and daughters Caroline Guyot, Jeanne Guyot and Sophie Guyot. In the second are four further children: Edouard Guyot, Ferdinand Guyot, Françoise Guyot and Honoré-Jean Guyot. The family lived in Brasschaet near Antwerp and the paintings descended at the Chateau de Mishaegen. Both works are recorded in the RKD, The Hague, nos. 49414 and 49424.       2 drawings, pen and brown ink, grey wash, heightened with white, traces of black chalk, 43 x 55 cm, signed in brown ink at lower left "N: Delin Fecit" (some brown stains on the Moses drawing). - Nicolas Joseph Delin (1741-1803), also known as De Ligne, was a Belgian artist, sought for his murals and interior decorations in trompe-l'oeuil. Some of his drawings, such as the Assumption of Mary (RP-T-1918-487), are now in the collection of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, which bears an identical signature. Both contain a ms. title at the bottom margin.
