Tracey Deep Sold at Auction Prices

Tracey Deep is a creative adventurer and a biology enthusiast. From the ‘far north’ to the ‘deep south’ our plant sculptor has accumulated her own cabinet of curious natural specimens. She has a sharp eye – and finds strings of kelp and armfuls of black and white seaweed. What might make us cringe and hold our noses, due to its salty and acrid decaying smell, is gathered up by Tracey and taken to her studio to be cared for before turning them into sculptures.

Her exhibition, ‘Under the Sea,’ overwhelms us with the tactile materiality of the sought-after coastal sponges and sea life that has been washed up on our coastal shores, stretching from far north Queensland to the white sands of Western Australia.
