Impressed manufacturer's mark and date to underside 'Flame mark L' with 70th Anniversary kiln mark and incised artist's initials 'JDW'. Catalog Note: Two days before Thanksgiving in 1950, Rookwood celebrated its 70th Anniversary with a special kiln opening featuring notable examples of production and artist-signed pieces. John Dee Wareham, then Director of the Pottery, created this colorful and fanciful bowl, which bears the rare kiln mark denoting the special and historical day.
