Deas is a master realist painter and one of the nation’s premier illustrators. Working from his studio in New Orleans’ historic French Quarter, he creates paintings and drawings with an elegant eye and a mastery of the oil medium unusual in a contemporary context.Raised in suburban New Orleans and later in Long Island, NY, Deas began illustrating novels and children's books at age 19.         This lot consists of a framed portrait of First Lady, Hilary Clinton, done in oil paint on panel. The artist, Michael J. Deas, titled the piece, "The First Partner: Hillary Rodham Clinton." Depicted in this painting, is a three quarter profile bust of Hillary, as she is in the foreground with the White House in the background on the left. Hillary is depicted with not much emotion and stares into the distance, On the lower right of the painting, is the artist's signature. Deas has done a wonderful job of portraying Hillary, as it is well executed with much detail. On the verso of this piece, is a piece of paper noting that this piece was to be on exhibit, at the Centennital Benefit Auction on June 21, 2001. This piece of paper notes the artist, along with his information, the art director, the client and information on the artwork. The art work is framed in a simple wooden frame, with gold coloring, under glass and matted. Overall the piece is in great condition, with the paper on the verso torn, and normal wear present.Condition: (Very Good-Excellent).Dimensions: Framed: 17-3/4" x 21-3/4".
