        British, fl.1852-1871 River Landscape, circa 1857 Signed John Dearle and dated indistinctly, possibly 57 (lr) Oil on canvas 16 x 29 inches (40.6 x 73.7 cm) (Frame dimensions: 24 3/4 x 38 x 2 1/2 inches) Canvas is relined. Minor frame rubbing with associated wear to the edges. Very fine, stabilized craquelure.

The artist John Hales Dearle, known for his landscapes, was active on the island of Jersey in the 50s of the 19th century, it is conceivable that our present composition comes from that creative period.
