(19)35, verso in italienischer Handschrift eine Echtheitsbestätigung vom November 1968 von Giovanni Comisso, Treviso (1895 Treviso, Italien- 1969, italienischer Schriftsteller, Dichter, Journalist, Buchhändler und Kunsthändler in Paris), dazu Stempel der "Amministrazione delle Dogane Svizzere", beide gleich gerahmt Zum Künstler: Luigi Tibertelli nahm den Künstlernamen „Filippo De Pisis“ in Erinnerung an seinen Vorfahren „Filippo da Pisa“ an, der im 15. Jahrhundert als Feldherr gelebt hat. Seine Werke haben einen postimpressionistischen und teilweise expressiven Charakter. Im Jahr 1917 lernte De Pisis in Ferrara die Künstler Giorgio de Chirico, Carlo Carrà und Alberto Savinio kennen, die zu den Begründern der Metaphysischen Malerei gehören. Von 1920 bis 1925 lebte er in Rom. In dieser Zeit reifte sein Entschluss, Maler zu werden.1925 zog Filippo De Pisis nach Paris und lebte dort bis zum Jahr 1939. In Frankreich begann De Pisis die französischen Maler des 19. Jahrhunderts und die Impressionisten sowie die zeitgenössische Malerei zu studieren. In Paris malte De Pisis Straßenszenen und seine berühmten Porträts von den Menschen in der Métro, an der Seine und in den Straßen der Altstadt. Auch emotionalisierte Stillleben wie die beiden hier angebotenen Arbeiten gehören zu seinen Bildern in Paris. 1939 kehrte Filippo De Pisis nach Italien zurück und lebte und arbeitete in Mailand und Venedig. De Pisis war 1955 Teilnehmer der documenta 1 in Kassel. Im Jahr 1964 wurden posthum Arbeiten von ihm auch auf der documenta III gezeigt. He lived as a general in the 15th century. His works have a post-impressionist and sometimes expressive character. In 1917, De Pisis met the artists Giorgio de Chirico, Carlo Carrà and Alberto Savinio in Ferrara, who were among the founders of Metaphysical Painting. He lived in Rome from 1920 to 1925. Emotionalised still lifes such as the two works offered here also belong to his paintings in Paris. Filippo De Pisis returned to Italy in 1939 and lived and worked in Milan and Venice. De Pisis took part in documenta 1 in Kassel in 1955. In 1964, his works were also shown posthumously at documenta III.

The animal was usually represented in paintings made around the 1940s and it was not uncommon, according to accounts of the time, to meet the artist walking around Venice with Cocò on his shoulder. Filippo De Pisis dedicated poems to Cocò. In 1953, he won the competition and became director at the Government Art Institute in Venice, where he was already teaching. As Warin Dusatti recalls, ‘in those years, his friendship and close association with De Pisis brought a note of quiet sweetness and poetry to his painting, diluting the harsh “Central European” sign and resolving itself in a more “Mediterranean” manner... Campielli and Canali are thus transfigured into chromatic mosaics and flat colours with a strong impact, or, at times, into light, almost monochrome “grids” of nervous strokes, a little like De Pisis “modelled his flowers”.
