§ Paul Day (British, born 1967), Head and Ruins,

              Est: £300 - £500

§ Paul Day (British, born 1967), Head and Ruins, signed and dated 'Paul Day 1997' to the left-hand side, terracotta 34.5 x 40 x 16cm Footnote: Chiefly working in terracotta, resin and bronze, British sculptor, Paul Day, has established a peculiarly singular aesthetic dialect in contemporary sculpture. With an unusual and, at times, unsettling approach to perspective, scale, and composition, Day’s highly stylised works defy any traditional means of categorisation. Noted for his keen observation of architectural and human forms, Day has received commissions throughout Europe, Canada, and the United States, with The Meeting Place at St Pancras, London, The Battle of Britain Monument at Victoria Embankment, London, and The Iraq & Afghanistan Memorial at the Victoria Embankment Gardens, London, being among his best-known works.

              Jun. 25, 2020

Signed Framed Paul Jenkins Lithograph - Earth Day 1971

              Est: $700 - $1,050

**Originally Listed At $500** Paul Jenkins (American, 1923-2012), Earth Day, lithograph in colors, 1971. Signature in red at lower left. A stunning example of post World War II American abstraction by Paul Jenkins, one of the masters of controlled paint pouring and canvas manipulation so as to allow the paint to pool and roll across the canvas - without the use of a paintbrush - so as to achieve glorious veils of translucent and transparent colors. This composition was created for a 1971 Earth Day poster - the second Earth Day celebration. It is set in a custom white mat and painted blue and silver wood frame under glass. Size: 29.125" L x 20.75" W (74 cm x 52.7 cm); 36.25" L x 27.75" W (92.1 cm x 70.5 cm) framed William Paul Jenkins was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, and studied at the Kansas City Art Institute. In time, the New York City art scene lured Jenkins, and he became a student of Yasuo Kuniyoshi at the Art Students League. Inspired by the "cataclysmic challenge of Pollock and the total metaphysical consumption of Mark Tobey", he soon became associated with the Abstract Expressionists/the New York School. Jenkins was also a close friend of Mark Rothko. His works have been collected by the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
