David Stone Martin, American, 1913 to 1992, color lithograph on paper depicting a Surreal scene, probably an illustration. Signed lower right. Matted. David Stone Martin was an American artist best known for his illustrations on jazz record albums. For various companies, Martin eventually created illustrations for more than 400 record albums. Many of these were simply line art combined with a single color. Martins favorite tool was a crowquill pen which enabled him to do delicate line work. Martin is represented in the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Smithsonian Institution. During World War II, the United States Government issued a number of posters encouraging domestic workers to aid the war effort by increasing their production. This bold and well executed image very effectively stresses how teamwork and unity in the workplace leads to greater productivity. The artist of this poster is David Stone Martin (1912-1992). He was a classically trained graphic artist who attended the Art Institute of Chicago. During World War II he created a small group of posters for the United States Government and this is by far the most admired of those images. He later became best known for his extensive work designing album covers for the record industry. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

Petit manque au coin inf. de la pl. 4 du tome I. Reliure de c. 1800 en plein maroquin rouge (rel. signée Tessier, relieur et doreur de la Trésorerie nationale, étiquette au verso de la feuille de garde), décor doré sur le dos et sur les plats, tache sur le plat inférieur, tranches dorées, coins émoussés, gardes en moire bleue Superbe exemplaire de la magnifique édition de la "Grande Bible de Mortier", une des plus belles illustrations pour une Bible. COMPLET de 3 tableaux sur doubles pages signalés dans aucune bibliographie mais qui font partie de l'édition : "Table alphabétique pour la carte générale du monde [...]", "Table alphabétique pour la carte de la Terre sainte [...]" et "Table alphabétique pour la carte particulière des païs où les apostres ont preché [...]" Réf.
