      Charles Edmund Dana (1843-1914), watercolor dated 1890. The Rising Sun Inn, Devonshire, England. Titled, signed and dated lower left. Label on verso reads "Rising Sun Inn, Lynmouth, Devonshire, England, Artist & Owner Charles E. Dana". The artwork measures 13 inches x 20 inches. Framed, it measures 21 1/2 inches x 28 inches. In storage for over 40 years at a Pennsylvania residence. Purchased in England in 1968. A student of Thomas Eakins in Philadelphia, Dana's works reside in many museums and institutions. An unrecorded and unknown treasure just surfaced!

      Oil on canvas Algerian scene shows a family gathered around their tent. Two women are seen next to a campfire and a man is seated next to a woman nursing a baby. All are wearing traditional dress and the tent is set on a sandy area surrounded by palm trees. Signed lower right "Ch Dana Algeria 1897". Housed in a modern carved and gilt frame with linen liner. SIZE: 16" x 20". PROVENANCE: Private Boston area collection. CONDITION: Discolored varnish, very good. 9-97831
