Qty: (1) Provenance Acquired directly from the artist Property from the Collection of Robert L Pfannebecker Literature Museum of Contemporary Crafts, Soup Tureens: 1976, exh. cat., New York, 1976, p. 14 (related form illustrated) Artist Biography William Daley was born in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York in 1925. Daley served in WWII, later attending the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston under the G.I. Bill, receiving his B.S. in 1950. He received his Graduate Degree from Columbia University Teachers College in 1952. Daley went on to teach ceramics at state colleges in Iowa and New York. Most of Daley's career was spent teacking in the Industrial Design Department (and later in the Crafts Department) at the Philadelphia College of Art in Philadelphia (now The University of the Arts). Daley received honorary doctorates from The Maine College of Art and the University of the Arts; Awards from the College Art Association, American Craft Council, The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage, Northern Clay Center & Watershed. Works by the artist are held in the collections of the Clayarch Gimhae Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Art and Design, Museum of Fine Arts, National Museum of Art, Smithsonian Institution, Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Stedelijk Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and others. Very good overall condition; light surface and edge wear commensurate with age and light handling; light scuffs to underside and underside rim of lid.
