          Tai Wei (Born 1944) Cowboy Original Oil on Canvas. Born into a family of artists in 1944, Wei Tai learned painting from his father who was a famous sculptor in China. In the United States, Wei Tai has the opportunity to express his art as he desires. In his words, "I can do what I want - meet foreigners and expand my view of the world." He is free to interact with other artists and exchange ideas without fear of government control or retribution. Since his arrival in Phoenix, AZ Wei Tai has benefited the charitable community. His contribution of paintings to various organizations has done much to enhance their fund raising efforts. COMPAS, Florence Crittenden Foundation, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix are all beneficiaries of his generosity. Museums with his work in their collections include the Shanghai Art Museum, Milan Municipal Hall, Italy (collection), Cologne, Germany, Yves Saint Laurent (collection) and Amsterdam, the Netherlands.           Large Chinese Porcelain Seated Hotai Buddha with Wei Hong Tai Zao impressed mark to unglazed base and with an ink inscription; decorated in famile rose enamels and carrying his bag and rosary. With heavy hardwood custom stand. Light age related wear to enamels, a hairline from the back of his head to the back of his bag. Height of porcelain 11 1/2 inches (29.3 cm.).
