Ankalina Dahlem Art for Sale and Sold Prices

Even as a child, Ankalina Dahlem knew that she wanted to be a painter and a writer. During her childhood she painted, drew and wrote all the time. Through the profession of the father were always photo magazines in the house. Her favorite photographer was Helmut Newton. She belonged to an American school swimming team and photographed a lot.

She applied at the Pasadena Art Center in California with a full portfolio of photos. The then chairman of the photo department was Art Kane. Both were friends in friendship until his death. After studying photography for two semesters, Dahlem switched to Fine Art. Since the most magnificent paintings Old Masters came from Europe, she decided to return to the ancient world.

In Frankfurt she came to the Städelschule, class Immendorff. There she studied for a year, then to Karlsruhe to the Academy of Fine Arts, subject of sculpture, class Balkenhol to change. After sculpting everything that seemed important to her in two years' time, and fed up with asking classmates if they could help her carry one of her sculptures, she switched to the medium of painting, class Gross. Easy-to-transport postcards and large roll-up paper works became her discipline. In addition, the globe was easier to travel with the lightweight formats. Here, their scholarships in The Hague and Prague benefited. After diploma thesis and Meisterschülerbrief it continued on Odyssee with pen, paper, canvas and a typewriter.

New York, Tel Aviv and Venice were just a few Working visits. After all, the cities had a sea at the door. With a scholarship in Paris, she discovered the world of indoor swimming pools, then it went with a blue series of large-sized canvases about Frankfurt to Berlin. That was the city where she wanted to stay at least. However, the wetness and coldness inspired her to numerous short stories and a novel that plays in sunny Peru. After that she decides to travel more. From Berlin, this venture seems to be difficult. That's why she moves to Frankfurt am Main. First of all for a while. Here all pictures and drawings, sculptures and manuscripts are stored. Accompanied by the yearning for water and dreams, she works daily on images and texts and their enciphering.
