Oval Oil painting on canvas depicting female portrait, nineteenth century, Sicily (from ancient Sicilian family), Allegedly by the painter Angelo D'Agata Catania (Catania 1842 post-1913). Cm. 67x47, 75x56 cm with frame. Small loss of color Few biographical information you have on this painter, who participated in the Exposition Sicilian farm, located in Plaza de Armas, today Piazza Giovanni Verga, inaugurated in Catania on 14 April 1907. The artist, active until 1913, he painted religious subjects and portraits, and distinguished himself in pastels. The work, oval-shaped, made with Oil paint on canvas, depicts a character dressed with rich and elegant appearance of the era. The vigorous coloristic contrasts and chiaroscuro faces bring to mind the style of painting of the Neapolitan school. They are to report loss of color on both canvases.
