          - MENDES DA COSTA, Joseph (Dutch 1863 - 1939). King David, c. 1907 - 1908. Terracotta with integral base, signed with the artist's monogram 'JMC' and marked 'S A.I' (incised at the back of the base), monogrammed again (on the underside). Some unobtrusive imperfections: minor surface grime and mineral deposits in the recesses, several thin cracks to the feet and cloak, few tiny chips to the underside, otherwise in very good condition. Unique.
