      Est: €2,400 - €3,000

Oil on burlap France, 1927 Ludovic Cuyer - French landscape and still life painter Signed and dated lower right 'Lud. Cuyer 1927' With the stamp of the color merchant Gustave Sennelier on the stretcher In gilt profile frame Dimensions: 50 x 61 cm Good condition Provenance: from the inventory of a former Berlin gallery Beautiful illustration of a carefree-harmonic Parisian street scene; paintings by Ludovic Cuyers are repeatedly offered at auctions The French painter Ludovic Cuyer was born in Saint-Ursin in the Department Manche. As a painter he was resident in Paris, where he exhibited in 1924 for the first time at the Salon des Indépendants. The present painting depicts a Parisian street scene. Under a loosely clouded sky, people are frolicking in the sunshine on a place surrounded by houses. A brasserie has placed tables and chairs outside, waiting for guests. The application of color is loose, almost sketchy. The coarse structure of the burlap gives the painting a vivid surface. The oil painting is signed and dated lower right 'Lud. Cuyer 1927'. On verso there is the stamp of the color merchant Gustave Sennelier on the stretcher, as well as an illegible stamp on the burlap. The burlap is slightly wavy, the paint layer shows occasional craquelure and slight surface tarnish. There are minor framing traces along the edges. Overall the condition is age-related good. The frame too is in good condition with small signs of wear. The painting measures 50 x 61 cm. The framed dimensions are 62.5 x 73.5 cm.
