Best known as the star of movies like Some Like It Hot and The Defiant Ones, actor and artist Tony Curtis was also a prolific painter, creating portraits and still life artworks. His bold use of color was influenced by the works of Picasso, Van Gogh, and Matisse. After his acting career began to falter in the 1960s, he began to follow his second love and applied himself to painting.

As an artist, Tony Curtis focused primarily on still life images with bright colors and abstract lines. A perfect example of his style is the Tony Curtis painting Red Table, which hangs in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He also worked in mixed media at times, creating pieces like his whimsical Frank Sinatra and Tony Curtis. Since his death in 2010, Tony Curtis' art is for sale at auction and online. Tony Curtis was an American actor with a career spanning six decades, reaching the height of his popularity in the 1950s and early 1960s. He acted in more than 100 films, in roles that spanned a wide range of genres. In his later years, Curtis made numerous television appearances. He achieved his first major recognition as a dramatic actor in Sweet Smell of Success (1957) opposite co-star Burt Lancaster. The following year he was nominated for an Oscar for best actor for The Defiant Ones (1958) with Sidney Poitier (who was also nominated in the same category). It was followed by the comedies Some Like It Hot and Operation Petticoat in 1959. In 1960, Curtis played a supporting role in the epic historical drama Spartacus. His most important dramatic role came in 1968, when he starred in the royal drama The Boston Strangler. Attached certificate issued by W. Feder Of Nations. Alf Stanton’s greatest hero was Errol Flynn and when he heard that an auction at Lots Road, Chelsea, were selling a trunk that had been found on Errol Flynn’s yacht, ‘The Zaca’, he thought it must be fate as this was the street he had grown up on as a child. When the trunk failed to sell in the auction, Alf approached the auctioneer and purchased two of the items from the trunk separately – a practice sword from MGM Studios and a feather wrapped together with a strip of leather which Alf recognised as the feathers worn in Errol Flynn’s hat during Robin Hood. Alf and his wife, Ann, attended many functions at film studios both in the UK. and America where they met the stars of stage and screen, including Tony Curtis on multiple occasions, Doris Day, Debbie Reynolds, Norman Wisdom and many others. During their numerous trips to America Alf and Ann travelled to Carmel to see Doris Day and her family and within Alf’s collection are many items that were personally gifted to him by Doris Day, Tony Curtis, Debbie Reynolds, Norman Wisdom, the cast of the Carry On films, and many television shows.
