    Philip C. Curtis (1907–2000) was an American painter and educator known for his surrealistic and whimsical depictions of desert landscapes and Southwestern scenes. Born in Jackson, Michigan, Curtis studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago before moving to Arizona in the 1930s.Curtis became associated with the Phoenix Art Colony, a group of artists who were inspired by the landscapes and culture of the American Southwest. Includes a hand signed limited edition copy of Philip C Curtis: An Exhibition Presented by the Arizona Bank, 1986. Philip Curtis became one of the early painters from the East in Arizona, and some critics later referred to him as Arizona's greatest painter. He went to New York and got a job in the murals division of a Works Progress Administration project.
