This painting was purchased in the 1970's by a woman as part of an investment in art. She passed away soon after and they were left with her late husband who passed away in 1989 and left for his then new wife who kept them all these years and she too have since passed away recently. Her kids have now decided to part with them. They are all originals and well preserved. Edward Wilson Currier was born in Marietta, Ohio, the son of lithographer Charles Jacob Currier and nephew of Nathaniel Currier of Currier & Ives. Working in oil and watercolor, his subjects include landscapes, coastal scenes, still life, views of San Francisco, and an occasional seascape. Much of his early work was lost in the earthquake and fire of 1906. Overall size: 13 1/4 x 16 1/4 in. Sight size: 10 3/4 x 13 3/4 in. Please note that all sales are final.       Oil on artist board scene shows a coastline with low beach area with sand dunes having a series of buildings and what appears to be a lighthouse in construction. Another building is separated closer to the water and in between is a flagpole flying American flag. Waves lap onto the sandy beach area and the horizon appears to have a mountain shoreline. Signed lower right "E. W Currier". Housed in its original gesso decorated frame. SIZE: 14" x 20". CONDITION: Extremely dirty, otherwise very good. It is our belief that this painting will clean up extremely well. 9-95718
