      A PAIR OF SIGNED PORTRAITS CIRCA 1915-1930. Comprising two oil on canvas portraits by Iowa native Alice McKee Cumming (1890- 1965). Comprising a three quarters profile portrait of a young woman with hat and holding a parasol handle, signed lower right "Alice Cumming," 20 inches x 16 inches (unframed) and a portrait of a woman with Navajo silver necklace and black hat signed lower right "Alice McKee Cumming," 27 inches x 18 inches (unstretched and unframed). A native Iowan, Alice McKee Cumming was a prominent portrait painter and instructor. After the death of her husband Charles Atherton Cumming in 1932, she went on to run and operate the Cumming School of Art until 1955 at which time she relocated to Arizona where she set up a studio and continued to paint until her death in 1965.
