Provenance: Cincinnati Art Galleries, Rookwood II, June 1992, Lot 0103 | Private Collection Catalog Note: The present lot was originally sold as a work by Edward Pope Cranch because of his frequent use of Uncle Remus characters, but Cranch was very consistent and bold in signing his work. Nichols, on the other hand, had the option of not signing her work as she was the owner of Rookwood Pottery. The style of this vase seems more Nichols-like, although the theme is decidedly Cranch.
