    John Wesley Cotton (American, 1869-1931) Lot of Four Views: Low Tide, St. Ives, Cornwall; Punt on a River Before a Village; A Bit of Old St. Ives, Cornwall, England; and The Waits. Each signed "JCotton" in pencil l.r., most titled. Etchings (the last with aquatint and printed in color) on paper, plate sizes to 9 x 11 3/4 in. (22.8 x 29.7 cm), the last matted, all unframed. Condition: First and last affixed to a backing mat along the edges, all with unobtrusive toning and rippling and/or creasing.

    John Wesley Cotton, American, 1868-1931, Night in Palm Canyon, aquatint, 11 3/4" x 8 7/8" image size, framed; numbered lower left 18/100; signed lower right in graphite, J. Cotton. Both a painter and an etcher, Cotton was born in Toronto, Canada. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and with E.M. Wilson in London (1911). He lived in Southern California during the 1920's. His aquatints, etchings, watercolors and oils always received most favorable reviews.
