Oil on canvas Canvas cm. 50x50. Framed The painting is the model for one of the canvases decorating the pendentives of the dome of the Cathedral of Urbino, depicting the four evangelists. In addition to St. Matthew painted by Corvi, the other three evangelists were entrusted to the execution of Giuseppe Cades (St. Mark), Antonio Cavallucci (St. John) and Pietro Tedeschi ( St. Luke).

Modelletto per pala d'altare raffigurante la Madonna in gloria e santi Olio su tela, cm 73X39 Il dipinto reca un'attribuzione collezionistica a Domenico Corvi (Viterbo, 1721 - Roma, 1803), artista considerato dall'abate Lanzi 'pittor dotto' e abile disegnatore. La sua produzione prende le mosse dal Mancini e si ispira alla tradizione di Batoni, Benefial e Subleyras (cfr. Rudolph, 1982). Queste influenze si percepiscono nelle opere finite, ma nelle pale d'altare e relativi modelletti, esprime sentimenti e sensibilità più rocaille, affini ai napoletani e in modo particolare agli esempi di Corrado Giaquinto che nella produzione matura modula su un controllo sempre più accentuato delle composizioni.

Il sacrificio d'Ifigenia Olio su tela, cm 70X43,5 Il dipinto si rivela un bozzetto per l'affresco raffigurante il Sacrificio d'Ifigenia realizzato da Domenico Corvi (Viterbo, 1721 - Roma, 1803) a Palazzo Borghese nel 1772. In quest'opera, una delle più importanti della sua produzione, il pittore si dedica a una rilettura del tardo barocco romano, ma ostenta altresì un gusto veronesiano arcaizzante, con prominenti architetture classiche e gradinate in scorcio, contrasti di toni accesi e freddi con una splendida gamma di mezzi toni nel dettaglio delle vesti e degli ornati. L'effetto è una spazialità vorticosa accentuata grazie a una stesura che par smaterializzarsi in eleganti sfumature. Anche nella tela in esame si percepiscono queste risultanti estetiche, che evocano le doti pittoriche dell'autore celebrate dalla critica a lui contemporanea, dimostrando, come nei bozzetti si evidenzi tuttavia una sensibilità più rococì, affine ad esiti napoletani e veneti, ma al contempo un controllo sempre più accentuato della composizione, indirizzata a un neoclassicismo sempre più marcato. (Viterbo, 1721 - Roma, 1803) San Nicola da Tolentino e il Beato Antonio da Amandola(?) intercedono per le anime del purgatorio Olio su tela, cm 80X56 Il dipinto è un bozzetto per la pala oggi custodita nella Pinacoteca di Ancona ma proveniente dalla chiesa di Sant'Agostino, andata distrutta alla fine del XIX secolo per far spazio a una caserma [sic]. L'esecuzione della tela si puì comunque far risalire al secolo precedente, quando l'edificio fu ristrutturato sotto la direzione di Luigi Vanvitelli quindi intorno al 1767 circa. In questa tela, Corvi si dedica a una rilettura del tardo barocco romano e di Gaulli in modo particolare, ma possiamo altresì notare una spazialità vorticosa accentuata grazie a una stesura che par smaterializzarsi in eleganti sfumature. Anche nella tela in esame si percepiscono queste risultanti estetiche, che evocano le doti pittoriche dell'autore celebrate dalla critica a lui contemporanea (cfr. V. Curzi, in Domenico Corvi, Catalogo della mostra a cura di V. Curzi e A. Lo Bianco, Roma 1998, pp. 116 ; 117).
