The 7% VAT of the hammer price will be taken off the bill. This splendid engraved copper map of Germany was made in the printing shop of the Amsterdam publisher Jan Evertsen Cloppenburgh. The map follows the map that Visscher released in 1621. It is dated 1630, but was published by Danckert in his work 'Historisch oft Waerachtig Verhael van den Oorlooge ... in Duytschlandt ...' as late as in 1642. This engraved copper map is one of the finest maps of Germany. It shows all illustrations in four marginal borders. At top we find the imperial coat of arms and the equestrian portraits of the emperor and seven electoral princes. With 18 city views of of Prague, Speier, Nuremberg, Basel, Frankfurt, Augsburg, Mainz, Leipzig, Strasbourg, Lubeck, Heidelberg, Brunswick, Trier, Hamburg, Ulm, Regensburg, Vienna and Cologne at the bottom and in left and right. Side borders show six inhabitants and together 48 crests. The map comprises Flanders (West) to Hungary (East) as well as Schleswig (North) to Tyrol (South). Presumably published as single leaf print, no text on rear. Condition The map is in very good condition and is very decorative. The map originally was trimmed to the margin and was completely remargined by an expert's hand. No defective spots or splits. Very clean and very nice, decorative coloring. Strong impression.
