      Yates (1747-1826), an Albany, New York lawyer and statesman and delegate to the Continental Congress in 1786, requests a pardon for a young man named Delius, sentenced to be publicly whipped. One page, folded sheet, 8 1/2 x 6 3/4 inches.

      American politician (1769-1828) who served as senator and who, as governor of New York, played a major role in the construction of the Erie Canal. ALS, one page, 8 x 9.75, April 1, 1825. Letter to the president of the Senate, sending a list of 12 names nominated for positions in the Orange County Court, as well as one other gentleman listed at the bottom. Signed twice by Clinton, once after the list, and once at the conclusion. In very good condition, with intersecting folds one through a single letter of both signatures, writing and signatures a shade light, but completely legible, a bit of scattered light toning and soiling, and paper loss, a couple tears and mounting remnant to second integral page.

      American politician (1769-1828) who served as senator and who, as governor of New York, played a major role in the construction of the Erie Canal. ALS, one page, 7 x 8.75, January 8, 1807. In part: "I have the honor to receive a communication from you informing me of my election as a member of the Society...I beg you to inform the society that I accept it with pleasure and to tender them my most respectful acknowledgements." Clinton has crossed out several words in the first paragraph. Intersecting folds, areas of soiling, a block of toning along the left side and two small holes not affecting text, otherwise fine condition.
