Kleine Figur des Bildhauers, der vor allem durch seine Freiskulpturen, Denkmäler und Brunnen bekannt wurde. Hibbard erhielt seine künstlerische Ausbildung an der Universität von Missouri in Columbia und an der School of the Art Institute of Chicago; als Mitglied der National Sculpture Society beteiligte er sich 1923 an deren Austellung in New York. Patinierung partiell ber.; Ges.-H. 33,2 cm. /V/Bronze, patinated in different brown colours and green. Signed and dated 1927. Marble base. Patina partially rubbed.// $P#

        DESCRIPTION: Fred Cleveland (Navajo, 20th Century). Oil on canvas in wooden frame. Signed in lower right corner. Depicts Eagle Kachina (Kwahu Kachina) dancing against two-tone purple background. Cleveland is a member of the Bitter Water and Kayonnie clans. He was born in a hogan on the Navajo Reservation near Ganado, Arizona where his family raised sheep. Cleveland went away to study for a year and a half at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. MEASUREMENTS: 29-1/2" x 23-1/2". Overall with frame 33-1/4" x 27". CONDITION: Minor craquelure throughout, especially on lower left side.

Depicts man on horseback in desert plains with imposing rock formation in distance (possibly Monument Valley in Arizona) during a sunrise. Cleveland is a member of the Bitter Water and Kayonnie clans. He was born in a hogan on the Navajo Reservation near Ganado, Arizona where his family raised sheep. Cleveland went away to study for a year and a half at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. MEASUREMENTS: 29-1/2" x 23-1/2". Overall with frame 33" x 27-1/4". CONDITION: Minor paint spots on reverse of canvas. No other defects noted.

Cleveland is a member of the Bitter Water and Kayonnie clans. He was born in a hogan on the Navajo Reservation near Ganado, Arizona where his family raised sheep. Cleveland went away to study for a year and a half at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. MEASUREMENTS: 29-1/2" x 23-1/4". Overall with frame 33-1/4" x 27". CONDITION: Two minor indentations in lower right corner. Few marks to canvas above head of man. Minimal roughness to back edges of frame.
