Lindsay S Clark (Scottish, 20th Century) Braikie Castle, Castle Angus signed lower right "Lindsay S Clark" watercolour 36 x 51cm Braikie Castle is a derelict 16th century tower house of East Angus. It lies 1½ mile (2 km) northeast of Kinnell and 6 miles (10 km) north of Arbroath. This modest L-plan tower was built in 1581 and comprises four storeys. A property of the Fraser family, Braikie passed to the Grays around 1750 and later to the Ogilvie family. Still relatively complete, some internal details survive.
