CLARK 1927' Rear 'ROMAN BRONZE WORKS N.Y.' Height: 68 cm Very good condition Charming Art Déco bronze figure with an oriental, exotic subject The design for this decorative bronze was made in 1927. The American sculptor Allan Clark had made numerous journeys, among others to places in the Orient and was fascinated by the cultures he had encountered. On the basis of these impressions he created this figure of the Hindu goddess Parvati, with its decorative silhouette and its exotic charm it is all in line with the contemporary tastes of Art Déco. The bronze is a re-cast by the New York foundry Roman Bronze Works. Accordingly, it carries the foundry mark and is inscribed '© A. CLARK 1927'. The figure is 68 cm tall and in very good condition. Allan Clark (1896-1950) The American sculptor Allan Clark studied at The Art Institute of Chicago. In 1920, he moved to New York and studied with Robert Atiken at The Art Students' League. Since 1917, he worked as a freelance artist. In 1929, Clark settled Santa Fe. The artist has exhibited his work in major museums, including the Fogg Museum and The Art Institute of Chicago.
