Venezia, 1879 - 1933 La portantina Firmato Emma Ciardi in basso a destra Olio su cartone, cm 19X22,3 Provenienza: Italia, collezione privata Proveniente da una famiglia di artisti, figlia del celebre pittore Guglielmo e sorella di Beppe, anche lui pittore affermato, Emma Ciardi ottenne il primo riconoscimento internazionale in occasione dell'Esposizione Universale di Parigi del 1900, dove espose al Grand Palais, ottenendo grande apprezzamento. Durante la sua carriera partecipò a molte Biennali di Venezia, divenendo una presenza regolare e molto apprezzata. La sua pittura trae ispirazione dalla grande tradizione del vedutismo veneziano, tipica di artisti come Canaletto e Guardi, ma che Emma rielaborò in chiave moderna, grazie al contatto con le correnti pittoriche dei macchiaioli e degli impressionisti. A differenza del padre, il cui lavoro era più legato a un lirismo vedutistico, e del fratello, noto per il suo naturalismo bucolico, Emma sviluppò una voce artistica autonoma. Le sue vedute di Venezia e delle campagne circostanti sono caratterizzate da una sensibilità cromatica e una libertà espressiva, che la distinguono come una delle pittrici più originali della sua epoca. Le sue opere furono esposte in importanti gallerie e musei in Italia e all'estero, tra cui Milano, Torino, Firenze, Roma, Parigi e Londra.

Condition Report: Overall: 89.5 x 74.5cm Light surface dirt with stretcher marks visible to the top and right edges. The date is obscured by the frame. Some small areas of light craquelure starting to emerge in places. Under UV light there are some small spots and specks of retouching with some light infilling to the sky.

Venezia, 1879 - 1933 Festa a palazzo Firmato Emma Ciardi in basso a destra Olio su tela, cm 68X110 L'opera reca sul retro cartellino n. 211 dell'Esposizione Internazionale d'Arte di Venezia. Provenienza: Milano, collezione privata Figlia d'arte, la sua vita fu sicuramente dedita alla pittura, che per lei voleva dire dipingere misurandosi con il reale. Attenta agli avvenimenti del suo tempo, osserva l'ambiente che la circonda, prende appunti, fotografa, non solo a Venezia e nel Veneto, viaggerà infatti molto in America, a Chicago, e in Inghilterra. Sensibile interprete della pittura en plein air, stende il colore in alcuni punti quasi in rilievo, con materia pastosa e densa. Considerata, infatti, un'ottima colorista, Emma è attenta ai valori puramente pittorici del dipinto, alla scelta dei tagli da dare alle scene e alla qualità della luce, ottenuta più con l'abile uso della spatola che del pennello. Il tessuto cromatico dei dipinti di Emma Ciardi è dominato da gamme brillanti e chiare, sulla sua tavolozza troviamo bianco di zinco, giallo di cadmio, ocra gialla, terra di Siena, oltre ad una ricca gamma di grigi perlacei. Lo scenario del nostro dipinto è un giardino settecentesco con balaustre e scale, statue e fontane, alberi secolari e gli attori sono dame in abiti eleganti e vezzosi, rese con pochi tocchi materici, sfaldati nella forma da un pennellare rapido e guizzante.
