Zur Geschichte siehe ausführlich: Lola B. Gellman, Two Lost Portraits by Petrus Christus, in: M.W. Ainsworth, Petrus Christus in Renaissance Bruges, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1995, S. 101-114. Petrus CHRISTUS (c.1410-c.1475) Portrait of Elisabeth Braderyck Oil on canvas, around 1470 or 19th c. 47 x 34 cm, frame: 53 x 39.5 cm This work, which has often been discussed in art historical research and came from the Leo Nardes collection in France, was attributed to Hans Memling in 1907 and was painted on wood. It was auctioned in 1925. The auction catalog noted that the painting was transferred from wood to canvas in 1908. The picture is now attributed to Peter Christ, but researchers are still puzzled today as to whether it is a work from around 1470 or a work from the 19th century. It has been in Switzerland since 1955 and is now for the first time appeared again. For more information on the history, see: Lola B. Gellman, Two Lost Portraits by Petrus Christus, in: M.W. Ainsworth, Petrus Christus in Renaissance Bruges, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1995, pp. 101-114.
