    WILLIAM R. CHRISTOPHER Red Interior. Oil on masonite, circa 1960. 400x300 mm; 15 3/4x11 3/4 inches. Signed in oil, lower right recto. Ex-collection private collection, New Jersey. Christopher (1924-1973) was both an artist and a civil rights activist; he was a representative of the Dartmouth, New Hampshire, branch of the NAACP. Christopher's partner was the fellow Magic Realism artist George Tooker (1920-2011).
