        "Common Eider", carved wood sculpture, signed and inscribed on base "Charles Greenough Chase, Common Eider, Somateria Mollissima, No. 344, Sept. 1984", depicting a standing eider searching for mussels amid rocks and seaweed, on carved integral base. Comes with three personal notes from Chase, information about the artist, and an invitation to a 1983 New York exhibition of his bird sculpture where this piece was purchased (including receipt from down payment), 12" high, 25 1/4", 15 1/2". Sun fading and dryness to one side, edge shrinkage cracks.

        CHARLES GREENOUGH 'CHIPPY' CHASE (ME, 1908-1998) - "Bald Eagle; Halaeetus Leucocephalus", carved section of black walnut trunk, signed and titled on the underside, marked 'No 292' and dated March 1974. Deaccessioned from the Farnsworth Art Museum of Rockland, Maine in May of 2011, purchased by them from the artist in 1974, envelope taped to underside contains their brass display tag and inventory tag. Roughly 25" tall, 23" x 21". Good condition. From a Yarmouth Maine Collection.
