Contains one of the earliest descriptions in the press of Daguerre's invention. The article of photographic interest is illustrated with 5 diagrams depicting the darkroom apparatus and its development accessories, including the iodine fuming box, the plate holder, the camera and the mercury development apparatus. Green calf stamped in blind, tooled and lettered in gilt on spine, marbled endpapers. The article notes "Among the inventions since the beginning of the century that have excited universal interest, the Dauguerreotype is certainly one of the most extraordinary. For a long time it was surrounded by mystery and incredulity, but now one can only feel admiration."
