      Abel Chapman. Original drawings

      Est: -

CHAPMAN, Abel.- 29 ORIGINAL DRAWINGS for the work "Retrospect reminiscences and impressions of a hunter-naturalist", all with handwritten notes by the author, almost all located and dated, and with notes on their publication. Mounted in an album, a volume of the work containing all the works is included. Abel Chapman (1851 - 1929) was a renowned English hunter and naturalist, with a special interest in the Iberian Peninsula. Together with his friend and partner J. Buck, an enthusiastic naturalist, they visited Spain once or twice a year since their first visit in 1871, one of their most frequent destinations being the Coto de Doñana. Several of these drawings are located in Arcos (interior of the province of Cádiz), and areas of the reserve such as the Santa Olalla lagoon.
