      James John Chant (1817-1898) after William Charles Thomas Dobson Fairy Tales bears title and PSA stamp mezzotint published by Graves and Co., 1860 46 x 50.5cm Pl.; together with two Pre-Raphaelite prints after Rossetti and after Henry Ryland from the collection of Gordon Bottomley Monna Rosa and the Flower Crown, one inscribed 'To Fred Robert Hargreaves on his marriage, with kindliest wishes from his old schoolfellow Gordon Bottomley. / Well Knowe House./ Cartmel.' (3) The poet Gordon Bottomley 1874-1948 collected pictures, especially those of the Pre-Raphaelites. Bottomley wrote in a letter to his friend Howard Ricketts in 1918 'My life falls into two parts at the dazzling moment when I first saw Rossetti (the little "Sancta Lillias") reproduced in a picture paper in my boyhood and ever since I have been sure of what I wanted.' Bottomley left his collection to Carlisle City Art Gallery.
