      William Ellery Channing Autograph Letter Signed Tipped in to  Slavery.  One page of a bifolium, 5" x 8", no place; December 3, 1835. A presentation letter from Channing to " Mr. Norton," presumably Channing's friend and colleague, Andrews Norton, transmitting this copy of his recently published book, Slavery. It reads, in part: " I send you the book on slavery. A large edition is printed, but perhaps another may be called for & in that case I shall be glad to make corrections of any errors into which I may have fallen. Should any objections occur to you, I wish you to state them very freely. I may not agree with you in opinion, but your friendly suggestions will not on that account be received with less gratitude." Signed, " Wm. E. Channing." It has been tipped in to the front pastedown of Slavery. Boston: James Munroe and Company, 1835. First edition. 12 mo. 165 pages. Tan boards with paper title pasted to spine. William Ellery Channing, grandson of Declaration Signer William Ellery, was one of the leading figures of the early American Unitarian movement, along with Andrews Norton, and an ardent abolitionist. Condition: Spine and boards rubbed with some loss to paper sticker at spine; front joint split at lower board; rear joint starting. Endpapers toned and foxed; pencil notation to front free endpaper. Top edge darkened; edges lightly foxed; light scattered foxing internally. ALS unevenly toned. HID01801242017

Williams, both clients of Wright) and designed and handprinted by Frank Lloyd Wright. Stamped signatures, number and date to verso ‘One W H Winslow Frank L Wright 1963'.
