Cash is an US-American photographer, who is increasingly attracting the attention of the international art market The photograph ‘A Moment’s Pause’ was created by Howard T. Cash in 1981 in Igbobi, Nigeria. It depicts a girl in a dress during a dynamic and graceful movement. Cash’s focus is placed on the photography of African as well as other forms of dance. Employing the slow motion technique, he can capture the pretty and unpredictable moments of dance. The photographer himself describes his time that he lived in Igbobi as one of the most beautiful periods of his life. The photograph is signer in gold pen lower right ‘CASH 2005’. Remains of a former mount are verso visible. The photograph is cut along three edges, which does only impact the margin and not the depiction. The photograph is in very good condition with minimal traces of wear. The image size is 15 x 19.4 cm. Howard T. Cash (b. 1953) The photographer was born and raised in Harlem, New York. He studied at the Los Angeles City College, where he met the photographer Edmond Sella who has a great influence on his development as a photographer. At the beginning, Cash worked as a photo journalist for the university’s newspaper. The photographs of his first journey to Africa received first public recognition. During the following years he lived in Africa and became famous for his series that he created there. He was honored with the Commendation from the Consulate General of Nigeria, the Community Arts Initiative Award of African Dance and Slow Motion of New York, the Kodak/LACC 70th Anniversary Photo Contest of Los Angeles and the New York State Liberty Award.
