      Jules Caron (around 1827 - around 1843 ) after Horace Emile Jean Vernet (1789 Paris - 1863 ibid.): After a painting by H VERNET, Portrait of Maximilian Sebastian Foy, c. 1850, Steel engraving Technique: Steel engraving on Paper Date: c. 1850 Description: Steel engraving by J. Caron, inscribed: "H. Vernet pinx. J. Caron del. et sc. Foy Publié par Pagnerre". Half-length portrait of Maximilian Sebastian Foy in three-quarters profile. Maximilian Sebastian Foy (1775 - 1825) was a French general and served under Dumouriez, Moreau and Massena. During his successful military career he was wounded very often, but always recovered. At the end of his life he was one of the leading figures of the liberal party and became famous for his oratory. Jules Caron was a French engraver and illustrator (first mentioned in 1827, last mentioned in 1843). He engraved after Théophile Fragonard, Davi, Auguste Raffet, Horace Vernet, Louis Hersant, among others.       Jules Caron (around 1827 - around 1843 ) after Louis Hersent (1777 Paris - 1860 ibid.): Portrait of Casimir Périer, c. 1830, Steel engraving Technique: Steel engraving on Paper Date: c. 1830 Description: Steel engraving by Jules Caron, signed and titled: "Hersent pinx. J. Caron del et sc. / Casimir Périer." Caron's bust piece shows Périer in half profile. Périer is wearing a dark uniform jacket with a stand-up collar, underneath a white neckerchief. His long nose and tightly closed mouth give him an energetic expression. Casimir Pierre Perier (1777 - 1832) was a French statesman. Jules Caron ( c. 1827- c. 1843) was a French engraver and illustrator.
