      Gaetano Capone (1845-1920) Harlem River New York City signed lower right G. Capone oil on board 9" x 10" Born and trained in Italy, Capone sailed to the United States in 1883. The next year he exhibted in the National Academy of Design. Although he preferred to paint landscapes, he also painted some early marine scenes in New York. This painting shows the industrial development along the Harlem River in New York during the 1880's and 90's. A rare example of his early NYC paintings.
