    Oil on canvas three quarter view shows a young brown haired girl in a fancy puffy sleeve pink dress. Housed in an antique gesso decorated gilt frame and gilt liner. On reverse of canvas stenciled "Painted by A. Capen" with script "Septr 1839". SIZE: 25" x 21". PROVENANCE: On loan in 1984 to the University of Maine, Farmington along with 2 other portraits by this artist. CONDITION: 2" tear in background along with several other small slits and losses in background. Otherwise good. 9-26275

    Unframed oil on canvas half portrait of a woman in a black dress having a lace collar and lace bonnet with burgundy and white leaf decorated bonnet sash tied at her neck. On reverse of canvas is an artist's stencil "Painted by A. Capen" also handwritten "Stoughton Septr 1839". SIZE: 27" x 22". PROVENANCE: On loan in 1984 to the University of Maine, Farmington along with two other portraits by the same artist. CONDITION: Some inpainted touch-up spots, some minor chips, otherwise very good. 9-26274
